Praised by The New York Times for her performance in her latest film Walkaway, Deepti has an international career spread across India, Singapore, Pakistan and the United States. After earning her MFA in Acting from the University of Texas at Austin, she moved to New York where she built her career not only as an actor, but also a voice-over talent, writer and producer.

She currently resides in Los Angeles, where she runs a monthly script reading series, 2nd Sundays.

Record/Play

Deepti will be playing the lead in a short film, Record/Play.
It is written and directed by Jesse Atlas who will also be directing the film, Monsters-2 (a sequel of Gareth Edwards‘ art-house sleeper hit Monsters)

Jesse Atlas’s previous short film, Now and Nowhere,won awards at both the Malibu Film Festival as well as the Beverly Hills Film Festival.

HP Commercial

Deepti recently shot a TV commercial for HP DV6 in which she played a Zombie.

After 4 hours in the make-up chair she was ready to scare the audience’s socks off.

The commercial will air on Television across India, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

Walkaway

The New York Times calls Deepti’s performance in Walkaway “film’s most affecting performance“.

Walkaway, a light-comedy drama, mocks the clutches of social obligations on young Indian professionals settled in New York City. Walkaway received a nationwide limited theatrical release in 2010.

Umbrella (feature in post-production)

Deepti recently finished principal photography for an indie feature, Umbrella, which she stars in and co-produced.

Umbrella is about the loneliness of living in a big city and the choices people make to relieve the pressure. Two strangers on a rooftop, a Peeping Tom and a cutter, try to find common ground. It all changes as secrets are revealed. What begins as an act of kindness turns into a war of wills. More on the facebook page

Neeyat (Intention)

A 20 episode drama about an immigrant couple who want to live the American Dream and the woman who turns their world around. Neeyat was shot in NYC and is currently airing on ARY internationally.
